“It’s Only Cardboard” Replica Puppet Body

Following the release of the ’Being Frank’ documentary in 2018, the Sievey family re-launched ’11:37’,  the mail order company that Chris ran from the early 80’s for firstly, ‘Freshies’ and then Sidebottom merch. From day 1 we have wanted to produce ‘replica’ puppet bodies and we are excited to announce that we finally worked out how we can do it. We pride ourselves on producing the most authentic and highest quality merch possible and, taking a leaf out of Chris’s book, sometimes what things we create are not motivated by a profit margin. Reproducing a puppet body is an ambitious and laborious task...BUT that isn’t a reason not to do it. These days, original puppet bodies created by Chris/Frank are extremely rare and very hard to find for sale, even if you are willing to part with the inevitable high price. Our aim is to produce the very next closest thing to an original... that’s an ‘official’ replica.

We are adopting a ‘hybrid’ 7 stage process that utilises both modern digital technologies, paired with traditional DIY methods. The donor body has been meticulously scanned at high resolution. The puppet bodies will be hand painted by Chris Sievey’s grandchildren, Sadie and Martha Sievey, adding some true ‘Sievey’ DNA to the project. The bodies will have intermediate and final detailing screen-printed by hand to produce the most exact replica possible.

The puppet bodies will then be individually cut out by hand and finally, mounted onto an A2-sized presentation backing card, suitable for framing.Strictly limited to a run of 50 pieces, each puppet is embossed and numbered (1-50)

To avoid damage in transit, this item has to be well packaged and shipped flat in sturdy, recycled outer packaging and will definitely not fit through your letterbox!

In all the past years of creating 11:37 merch, possibly aside from the 1:3^rd scale bust we produced for Xmas 2021, we feel this replica puppet is the most authentic and desirable item we have produced to date.
